National Roll-out of the Informing Families Guidelines

Over the course of 2017, the Informing Families Project - which was developed by the National Federation of Voluntary Bodies - is being supported by the HSE in rolling out an implementation strategy for the National Best Practice Guidelines for Informing Families of their Child’s Disability.

'Informing Families' supports now used in Bulgaria

The international use of the materials of the Informing Families Project, and its evidence-based learning on how to communicate with and support families when their child has been diagnosed with a disability, continues to grow. The materials have been used in 32 hospitals in Bulgaria.

Informing Families Guidelines launched in Finland

The Informing Families Best Practice Guidelines have now been translated into Finnish and were launched at Helsinki Children's Hospital on Thursday 12 February 2015.

Peer-reviewed evaluation of Informing Families training published

HSE Review - Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People

The HSE are currently carrying out a review of children and young people's disability services. A bulletin describing the work of this review has been issued. Parents are invited to put their names forward as representatives on local implementation groups.

Informing Families Training delivered to 150 nursing students in University College Cork

Nurses from University College Cork received training in the Best Practice Guidelines for Informing Families of their Child's Disability today, delivered by parent and Chairperson of the Informing Families Project in Cork, Katherine O'Leary.
